Implementation methology

Today in Greece, cotton is harvested with cotton pickers with a storage bin. This practice leads to the mixing of cotton harvested from different plots before it is taken to the gins.

Cotton of different varieties with different quality characteristics is mixed either in the hopper of the cotton picking machine or on the transport platforms. Doing so lowers the value of the final product having a negative impact on the bargaining power of producers or cooperative schemes to obtain a better price. The management system is able to provide a solution to this problem. The methodology planned to be followed initially includes the grouping of the plots with cotton of the same variety in order to harvest it by a cotton picker with the possibility of baling. The assignment of a unique identity to each parcel left in the field with the system recording all the information connected to it (variety, weight, disposal point, moisture content, etc.).

The introduction of all this information into the information system which, through special algorithms, will enable the user to optimize the grouping and planning of the loading and transportation of bales of cotton that have similar quality characteristics to the nearest ginning plants as the case may be. With the successful implementation of the project, each user of the system (individual producer or cooperative scheme) will be able to shape the political disposition of his production by himself, resulting in the strengthening of his bargaining power in his favor.
